LIFEGUARD TRAINING (Ages 15 and up)
American Red Cross Lifeguard Training covers the fundamental skills required to become a lifeguard. All students must be 15 years of age by the last day of class and must pass a skills screening consisting of 300 yards continuous swim (front crawl and breaststroke) and surface dive into deep water to retrieve a 10-pound brick. CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications are included in the course.
Attendance is required at all sessions. Students must complete all course work and pass final written and practical skills tests to obtain Lifeguard Training Certificate.

Session II: April 17,18,24,25 (Sat/Sun)

Session III: May 8,15,16 (Sat/Sun) 9:30am-5pm & May 18,20 (TTH) 4:30-9pm
Summer Session (registration begins April 12): June 19,20,29,27 (Sat/Sun) 9:30am-5pm
Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Recertification: This course gives the individual the opportunity to review the course content within a formal class setting. Each participatnt will review video segments, practice and perform skills for avaluation, and complete the written exam.
Lifeguarding Recertification (must have current Lifeguard certificate): Sat May 22 9:30am-4:30pm, Fee: $75
CPRPR (must have completed CPRPR within past 2 years): Sun May 23 9:30am-4:30pm Fee: $75

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR (Ages 16 and up)
The puropse of this course is to train instructor candidates to teach courses in the ARC Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate the participants' progres. Students must be able to demonstrate ave Level IV swimming skills (swim 25 yards front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and 15 yards of the butterfly with proficiency; tread water for 1 minute; float on back for 1 minute) and be able to perform basic rescues. Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) is included in the course.
