Wellness & Sports Nutrition Services
Our Registered Dietitians are a great source for obtaining the most up-to-date information related to your current health status and eating behaviors. Nutrition consultations will develop a personalized meal plan, help identify effective individualized goals and provide constructive feedback and follow-up as needed. The focus is on your present lifestyles and how to make healthy modifications that are realistic and lasting. Our dietitians specialize in: sports nutrition, weight management, meal planning, cholesterol reduction and other personalized nutrition needs. Price varies.
Health Screenings
A variety of health screenings can be performed by the Freedom Wellness Center staff. Screenings are held monthly in the lobby or privately by appointment. Current screening offerings include:
Bone Density
Osteoporosis is often called the "silent disease" because bone loss occurs without symptoms. This screening provides an assessment of your skeletal status and identifies your risk of developing osteoporosis and risk of fracture. Recommended for those over 30 years of age.

Blood Pressure & Arterial Elasticity
Measures blood pressure, pulse, and the arterial elasticity index (AEI). A loss of arterial elasticity is highly correlated with arteriosclerosis, which causes arrhythmia associated with heart disease.

Lipid Profile & Glucose (Total Cholesterol, HDL, Triglycerides, LDL & VLDL)
The National Cholesterol Education Program has issued new guidelines effective May 2001. This test requires a 12 hour fast. A finger stick is performed to collect a small sample of blood, which is analyzed. Results are available within 5 minutes. A non-fasting test for Total Cholesterol, HDL and Glucose is available as well for $28.00.

Framingham Heart Risk Assessment
This screening includes the lipid profile, the blood pressure and arterial elasticity screenings and a short questionnaire. The assessment translates clinical conditions and lifestyle factors into a single, easy-to- understand category of risk, which calculates a person's chance of having a heart attack within 10 years. This assessment is highly supported by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and is recommended for those over 30 years of age.
